Pipe mill rollers run in pairs, and a pair only works if both halves are cut to the same pass. That is why we machine rollers as a matched set rather than as single parts: same heat, same finishing, same measured profile, marked with the stand they belong to.
Roller Services
- New roller sets designed from your tube specification.
- Replacement rollers matched to existing tooling drawings.
- Re-hardening and re-finishing of worn rollers where there is material left.
- Roll and shaft assemblies supplied ready to fit.
Rollers are turned and milled on CNC lathes and machining centres, vacuum heat-treated and finished in our own shop, so a replacement does not wait on a subcontractor. Send the tube size and a photo or drawing of the roller you need.
Roller accuracy starts at the shaft
A roller is only as accurate as the shaft it sits on. Bore tolerance, key fit and face run-out together decide whether the profile runs true. When a mill develops a periodic mark on the tube, the cause is often a roller that is running 0.05 mm eccentric rather than a worn profile.
We supply rollers with the bore machined to the shaft we are matching, and where the shaft itself is worn we quote roller and shaft as an assembly so the fit is correct when it arrives.
Roller assemblies ready to fit
| Supply option | What you receive | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Roller only | Profiled ring, marked by stand | Customer has good shafts and bearings |
| Roller + shaft | Assembly with key and bearing seats checked | Worn shafts, or a spare set kept ready |
| Full stand set | All rollers for one stand, matched | Size change or new line commissioning |
Reconditioning rather than replacing
Where a roller still has wall thickness at the groove, re-hardening and re-finishing can restore the profile at a fraction of the cost of a new part. We assess this from photographs and a measurement of the remaining groove depth.
