Tube mill tooling is everything that touches the strip: the roll sets, the cassettes they sit in, the scarfing head, the guide and straightening rolls. We make the roll side of that list ourselves, which is why a tooling change can be quoted as one package instead of four suppliers.

Tooling is a system, not a list of parts
Forming rolls, fin rolls, sizing rolls, guide rolls and the shafts they run on are designed to work together. Changing one element in isolation — a new fin roll with an old forming sequence, for example — usually moves the defect rather than removing it.
Where tooling stops and the machine starts
A mill with worn bearings, misaligned stands or loose guide rolls will destroy good tooling. Before a new tooling order, we ask three questions about the machine: when were the bearings last checked, is the pass line aligned, and are the stand shims original? If any answer is unknown, the alignment check is cheaper than the tooling.

Tooling audits
For mills running several sizes, we review the whole tooling set once a year: which passes are shared, which sets are worn beyond regrinding, and which sizes could share a cassette. The output is a short list with costs, not a catalogue.
