The seam guide holds the strip edges apart at the exact width and angle the fin pass needs. It is small, it sits right next to the weld, and it decides whether the weld runs straight.
Why it matters on the line
- Sets the strip width and the edge angle at the weld point, which is what keeps the weld running straight
- Runs against the strip at speed with scale present, so it wears faster than people expect
- A worn seam guide shows up as a wandering weld and drifting tube geometry downstream
- We supply the guide with the matching fin roll so the two agree with each other
What we supply
| Item | What we hold to | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Guide width | As your pass line drawing | Sets the strip edge position |
| Edge angle | Matched to your fin pass | The guide and the fin roll have to agree |
| Hardness | HRC 58+ | Runs at the weld with scale present |
| Matching | Supplied with the fin roll | Two parts that must agree |
Every item is machined in our own workshop and marked before it is packed, so it goes back to the stand it came from. If you send us a drawing or a sample we work to that; if you are not sure what you need, send us the mill model and the pass line and we will tell you.

Send us the drawing or the sample
A drawing, a photo with a ruler in frame, or the mill model is enough for us to quote and to tell you honestly whether the item should be reground or replaced.
