The impeder sits between the stands and stops the strip from wandering. It is the part that decides whether the strip tracks straight or not.
Why it matters on the line
- Sits between stands and holds the strip on line, which is what keeps the tube straight
- Wears at the contact point, so the impeder tip is a consumable item
- A worn impeder lets the strip wander, and a wandering strip makes a wandering tube
- We supply impeder tips and impeder bodies, and we will tell you which one is the actual wear item
What we supply
| Item | What we hold to | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Tip dimension | As your pass line drawing | Sets the strip line |
| Hardness | HRC 58+ | It wears against moving strip |
| Consumable | Tips replaceable without changing the body | The tip is what wears, not the holder |
| Availability | Common tips in stock | A small part that can stop a mill |
Every item is machined in our own workshop and marked before it is packed, so it goes back to the stand it came from. If you send us a drawing or a sample we work to that; if you are not sure what you need, send us the mill model and the pass line and we will tell you.

Send us the drawing or the sample
A drawing, a photo with a ruler in frame, or the mill model is enough for us to quote and to tell you honestly whether the item should be reground or replaced.
