MR89 Flying Cold Saw — Ø38 – Ø102 mm, 1.2 – 4.5 mm Wall, up to 80 m/min

What the MR89 flying cold saw does

The structural-tube size of the rack range. Ø102 mechanical and structural pipe is the everyday product here, and the rack drive is what keeps the cut square under a full load.

Length accuracy on structural tube is checked by the customer at delivery, not at the factory, and a friction drive would slowly lose the argument. The steel tooth of the rack does not. The MR89 shares its carriage concept with the MR76 but takes a wider clamp and a stronger feed axis for the heavier section. Speed drops to 80 m/min, which on structural lines is rarely the constraint.

What comes with the machine

  • Rack-driven carriage — hardened gear rack and steel pinion, the cutting torque goes through the tooth, not through friction.
  • Clamping — pneumatic (-P) or hydraulic (-H), built into the model you order.
  • Saw head — HSS / TCT, with blade tensioner and coolant arrangement.
  • Control — servo feed and a controller that holds cut length across the full speed range.
  • Guard and extraction — enclosed cutting with chip extraction.

How the -P / -H clamp choice works

Every model in this range is ordered with the clamp written into the model number: -P for the pneumatic clamp (fast, light, thin and medium wall) or -H for the hydraulic clamp (high force, steady holding, heavy wall and large diameter). At the smaller sizes -P is the normal quotation; from around 3 mm wall and upwards the hydraulic clamp becomes the configuration we recommend, and on the largest models it is the only one we supply.

Where it is normally installed

The saw sits on the exit side of the sizing stand and tracks the moving tube, so the cut stays square and the length stays accurate without stopping the line. We confirm the station layout against your mill arrangement, including the run-out table and the tube handling after the cut.

Questions buyers ask about the MR89

[(‘What sizes does the MR89 cut?’, ‘Round Ø38 to Ø102 mm, square 30 to 80 mm, rectangular 50×100 mm, wall 1.2 to 4.5 mm at 80 m/min.’), (‘Is the hydraulic clamp standard at this size?’, ‘It is the usual choice above 3 mm wall, so most MR89 quotations are MR89-H. The pneumatic MR89-P remains available for thinner product mixes.’), (‘How does the MR89 compare with moving up to the MR114?’, ‘The MR114 adds a 30 kW saw motor and a heavier carriage for continuous heavy-wall cutting. If your wall sits below 4.5 mm, the MR89 is the cheaper machine that does the same job.’)]
